The fortress of the Palazzo Ducale was set up in the IXth century, but the palate of the Doges began to have its current form in the XIVth, one of the tops of Venetian Gothic refinement.
The palate counts many richly decorated rooms as in particular the Sala del Maggior Consiglio (Room of the Great Council of the republic) where figure the Paradise, very large work of Tintoret. In the interior court, the statues of Mars and Neptune keep the staircase of the giants.
